SoHyun Ko (Korean: 고소현; born 13 April 2006) is a Korean violinist and child prodigy. She received widespread attention after a YouTube video by TwoSet Violin released on 1 March 2019 highlighted her performance of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen[1]. As of August 2020 the TwoSet video has received more than 4.8 million views and the YouTube video of her original performance at the Heifetz International Music Institute, more than 4.3 million views[2].

SoHyun began studying violin at the age of 4 at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts. At the age of 8 she played Mozart’s violin which had been brought from the composer’s home town of Salzburg[3]. Competitions that she has won include the 40th Korean Violin Competition of the Hankook Ilbo in 2012; the 14th Korean Violin Competition of the Korean Chamber Orchestra in 2013; Mastmedia’s 17th Korean Strad Concours in 2015; and the Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition in 2020[4].

SoHyun Ko is a graduate of the Heifetz International Music Institute’s PEG (Program for the Exceptionally Gifted). As of August 2020 she is studying at the Manhattan School of Music under Maestro Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec.
